TOPIC 2 – Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems
The Forest Ecosystems Conservation Group at CTFC can offer wide experience in wildlife monitoring and its use as direct indicators of forest habitats in order to assess the conservation outcomes of multifunctional forest management and conservation actions where biodiversity objectives are integrated and complement productive or other objectives. We use standardised protocols and posess high analytical capabilities to deal with large datasets and a wide array of indicators. We also provide experience in applying hi-tech based methodologies (e.g. biooacoustics, IA species recognition, telemetry, drones), in wildlife monitoring and management, habitat characterisation and data management. As a part of a research centre highly specialised in the forest sector in all of its facets, we have wide experience in integrating the biodiversity function in all steps of forest management and conservation, from landscape planning to the stand-scale, and the impact monitoring.
The Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC) is a public research institution fromCatalonia, Spain, whose mission is to generate scientific knowledge and transfer in order to promote the sustainable management of forests and natural resources. The CTFC focuses on several key areas, including sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation, landscape planning, circular bioeconomy, and climate change adaptation. In addition to conducting research, the CTFC plays an important role in technology transfer and innovation. It collaborates with companies, public administrations, forest owners, and local communities to apply scientific knowledge in real-world settings. (https://ctfc.cat)
