We are building a transnational consortium for the TREESCAPE concept under FORESTPathways 2026. TREESCAPE aims to investigate climate resilience across a connected forest–agroforestry–peri-urban–urban gradient, combining field ecology, UAV and satellite remote sensing, GIS and spatial modelling, soil and microclimate observations, adaptive management and stakeholder Living Labs.
We are looking for 3–6 additional funded partners with complementary expertise in forest ecology and tree ecophysiology, silviculture and adaptive forest management, agroforestry, remote sensing and forest monitoring, ecohydrology and soil–water relations, urban/peri-urban forestry, and Living Lab or socio-economic approaches. Partners with suitable long-term field sites, climate-resilience experiments or strong practitioner networks are especially welcome.
The University of Szeged, Faculty of Agriculture is interested in acting as coordinator or scientific work-package leader. We can contribute expertise in landscape ecology, climate-resilience assessment, UAV-based vegetation monitoring, GIS, remote sensing, spatial modelling, land-use analysis and agroforestry in the drought-prone Southern Great Plain of Hungary.
Primary topic: Topic 1 – Climate-Resilient Forest Systems, with relevant Topic 2 elements on adaptive and multifunctional forest management.
The University of Szeged is one of Hungary’s leading research universities. The Faculty of Agriculture has expertise in agricultural and environmental research, landscape ecology, rural development, GIS, remote sensing, UAV-based monitoring, land-use analysis and climate adaptation.
Our team works on spatial and ecological assessment of drought, land-use change, vegetation condition, agroforestry and climate-resilient landscape management. We combine field observations with UAV, satellite Earth Observation and GIS-based modelling, with a strong focus on the Southern Great Plain of Hungary, a region highly exposed to drought and heat stress.
The Faculty can contribute scientific coordination, field sites, UAV/remote-sensing workflows, spatial modelling, agroforestry research and stakeholder-oriented Living Lab activities.
