TOPIC 2 – Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems
Hydro Road develops high-performance ground stabilisation solutions designed to deliver durable roads using in situ materials, including gravel, soil and existing road aggregates, with substantial potential to reduce imported aggregate, maintenance and whole-life costs. Our HRS technology aims to balance engineering performance with environmental compatibility.
We are already working with Forestry England on forest-road applications. We now seek European partners to build on this work through comparative trials across different climates, soils, material types and operational environments—including prolonged rainfall, freeze–thaw conditions, seasonal access and heavy timber haulage.
The project would establish performance, cost savings and environmental outcomes across regions, while addressing national and regional regulations, road specifications and forestry practices.
We bring HRS technology and practical application expertise. We seek a research coordinator, forestry operators to host trials, and specialists in geotechnics, environmental assessment and regional regulatory requirements.
Our goal is to demonstrate where HRS can deliver stronger, more resilient forest roads at significantly lower cost and environmental impact, and identify the adaptations needed for wider European adoption.
Hydro Road is an SME developing solutions for ground stabilisation and dust suppression, with operations in the UK and Ireland. We aim to deliver exceptionally high-performing, environmentally passive solutions for roads and access infrastructure.
Our HRS technology stabilises in situ materials—including gravel, soil and existing road aggregates—to improve durability and resilience while reducing the need for imported materials and ongoing maintenance.
We combine technology development with practical application expertise and are working with Forestry England on forest-road applications. We collaborate with infrastructure operators and research partners to evaluate engineering performance, environmental compatibility and whole-life cost savings.
