TOPIC 3 – Timber and Innovative Wood-Based Products
We are interested in cooperation opportunities along the 4 themes of the FOREST Partnership 1st Joint Call 2026, topic 3 in particular:
TOPIC 1 – Climate-Resilient Forest Systems (“How forests function and respond to climate change”).
TOPIC 2 – Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems (“How forests should be managed under changing conditions”)
TOPIC 3 – Timber and Innovative Wood-Based Products (“How wood is transformed into innovative products”)
TOPIC 4 – Forest Value Chains, Markets and Governance (“How forest-based sectors, markets and governance are organised”) .
The BIOMA Institute for Biodiversity and the Environment is a multidisciplinary R&D centre of the University of Navarra (Pamplona, Spain). Our work focuses on the links between biodiversity, environmental quality, climate change and human health. BIOMA integrates five strategic areas: biodiversity and natural assets; environmental quality and health (One Health); sustainable agriculture and agroecology; sustainability and circular economy; and society and environmental culture:
Our teams seek to:
- understand how biodiversity is a pillar in the fight against climate change and environmental degradation;
- investigate environmental pollution impacts through a one Health lens, lonking human and ecosystem health;
- develop climate-resilient agriculture through soil health, sustainable fertilization, biostimulants and the soil-plant microbiome and
- promote circular economy solutions across all value chains, from industrial symbiosis and waste recovery to climate action, resilient cities and buildings and governance.
We combine experimental and field research, long-term monitoring, laboratory analysis and digital tools (GIS, remote sensing, modelling, digital twins) to understand the drivers and impacts of global change and to design effective responses. BIOMA has experience in living labs and co-creation with municipalities, river basin authorities, hospitals, businesses and citizens, working on topics such as nature-based solutions, ecosystem services, circular and climate-resilient buildings, air and water quality, and climate adaptation.
Through national and European projects, we aim to provide robust scientific evidence, indicators and decision-support tools that help implement EU biodiversity, climate and restoration policies, while at the same time strengthening societal awareness and engagement.
