University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), through the Environment and Forest Resources Research Group (MARFO), is interested in joining a transnational consortium under TOPIC 1 – Climate-Resilient Forest Systems.
Our team can contribute expertise in Mediterranean forest ecology, climate-change impacts, carbon dynamics and forest productivity, Earth observation and remote sensing, field-based forest monitoring, ecohydrology, and the assessment of forest responses to drought and management interventions.
We are particularly interested in collaborations addressing climate resilience and adaptive capacity of Mediterranean forests; carbon stocks, sinks and productivity; drought and disturbance impacts; forest ecosystem functioning; recovery after silvicultural treatments; integration of satellite, climate and field observations; and development of indicators, predictive models and decision-support tools for climate-resilient forest management.
UCLM can contribute Mediterranean forest study sites in Spain, long-term environmental and forest observations, field validation, remote-sensing analyses, modelling, and assessment of management and climate impacts. We are interested in comparative studies across European forest types and climatic gradients and in translating research results into operational tools for forest managers and policy stakeholders.

The Environment and Forest Resources Research Group (MARFO) brings together specialists in forest science, environmental technologies and ecosystem assessment. Its research covers Mediterranean forest functioning and productivity, carbon sequestration, forest management and silviculture, climate-change adaptation, ecosystem restoration, environmental monitoring and the ecological, economic and social impacts of forest management.
The group combines field experimentation and forest inventories with Earth observation, environmental and climate data, modelling and spatial analysis. It has experience in Mediterranean forest ecosystems affected by drought and other climate pressures and in evaluating forest responses and recovery following management interventions.
UCLM can provide expertise and study sites particularly relevant for the Mediterranean and semi-arid forest context, contributing to comparative European assessments of forest vulnerability, resilience and adaptive management.
