TOPIC 3 – Timber and Innovative Wood-Based Products
The Structural Engineering Research Team at CTU UCEEB is interested in joining international consortia within Topic 3 – Timber and Innovative Wood-Based Products.
Our expertise combines experimental testing and numerical modelling of timber structures, engineered wood products and innovative wood-based materials.
We can contribute to:
- mechanical and structural testing of timber, wood-based panels, connections and structural components;
- long-term performance and creep testing under controlled environmental conditions;
- cyclic loading and assessment of stiffness, strength and failure mechanisms;
- experimental and numerical analysis of timber connections and structural systems;
- development, calibration and validation of numerical models;
- assessment of innovative products based on low-grade, secondary or recycled wood resources.
We are particularly interested in CLT and other engineered timber products, wood-based panels, circular approaches to wood use, including cascading utilisation, and novel structural applications of bio-based materials.
We are interested in cooperation with research organisations and industrial partners developing new timber products, manufacturing technologies or construction systems requiring experimental and numerical validation.
The University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings (UCEEB) is an interdisciplinary research institute of the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU).
The Structural Engineering Research Team focuses on experimental and numerical investigation of building materials, structural components, connections and complete structural systems.
The team has extensive experience in timber engineering, wood-based materials, structural testing and numerical modelling.
Our experimental facilities enable mechanical testing from the material and connection level up to large-scale structural components and systems, including static, cyclic and long-term loading.
Experimental research is complemented by numerical modelling, structural analysis and validation of computational models using experimental data.
Within FORESTPathways, CTU UCEEB can contribute to the development and validation of innovative timber and wood-based products, assessment of their mechanical and long-term performance, numerical modelling of their structural behaviour, and transfer of new material concepts towards practical construction applications.
