TOPIC 4 – Forest Value Chains, Markets and Governance
We are seeking research and industry partners to develop a proposal under Topic 4 – Forest Value Chains, Markets and Governance.
Our contribution combines process design, digital modelling of forest-to-construction value chains, and expertise in timber and offsite construction. We bring a construction-sector perspective to the organisation of forest-based value chains, connecting knowledge of material resources and production processes with building design and end-use requirements.
What we offer:
Construction-sector perspective on forest-based value chains;
Digital modelling of forest-to-construction value chains;
Timber and offsite construction expertise;
Design process and interdisciplinary co-design;
Development of construction-oriented solutions;
Evaluation of resource efficiency and environmental performance
Experience developed through ongoing research with Italian national research organisations ENEA/CREA.
We are interested in collaborative work involving co-design and living-lab approaches. We welcome complementary expertise in forestry and wood processing, value-chain economics, environmental assessment and governance, as well as organisations connected to regional production networks and social impact.
Our research group is based in the Department of Architecture at the University of Naples Federico II, a public university in Italy, and works in the field of architectural technology.
Our research focuses on timber and offsite construction, process design and digital modelling, with particular attention to the relationships between material resources, production capacities and construction applications.
We have investigated forest-to-construction value chains through research with ENEA, the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, with CREA, the Council for Agricultural Research and Economics, contributing forestry expertise.
This experience supports our ability to work across architectural and technological research and to collaborate with specialists in the forest-based sector. We offer a perspective grounded in construction requirements and production processes, with attention to the efficient use of local resources and environmental sustainability.
