I am interested in joining a consortium (preferably under Topic 1 or 2). I bring in expertise in:
- Environmental monitoring of forest disturbance and post-disturbance recovery;
- Satellite and UAV REMOTE SENSING (optical, thermal, LiDAR)
- UPSCALING of microclimate observations to landscape-level;
- development of scalable METRICS of functional forest recovery, persistent vulnerability and cascading disturbance risks.
The Landscape Resilience Research Group at the University of Göttingen investigates how forests and multifunctional landscapes respond to climate change, land-use change and environmental disturbances. It is part of the Centre for Landscape Resilience and the Campus Centre for Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Use at the Faculty of Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology.
Our interdisciplinary research combines ecological field observations and continuous microclimate measurements with geospatial analysis and optical, multispectral and thermal remote sensing from UAV and satellite platforms. We have experience with Sentinel-2 and Landsat time series, UAV-based vegetation and thermal monitoring, forest-structure analysis and the integration of field and remote-sensing data across spatial scales.
Current research addresses forest disturbance and recovery, vegetation–microclimate interactions, post-disturbance management, deadwood retention and forest-fire impacts.
