TOPIC 4 – Forest Value Chains, Markets and Governance
We are seeking to collaborate in transnational projects addressing the human, organizational, and managerial dimensions of sustainable forest-based value chains and governance. Our particular interest lies in understanding how forest-sector organizations, networks, and ecosystems can strengthen resilience, competitiveness, and sustainability through effective leadership, workforce development, organizational innovation, and collaborative governance. We aim to contribute expertise on leadership in complex multi-actor environments, organizational transformation, competence renewal, social sustainability, employee well-being, and the adoption of digital and AI-enabled solutions. We are especially interested in research examining how people, organizations, and value networks adapt to technological, environmental, and societal transitions, and how leadership and management practices can support both organizational performance and sustainable working life across forest-based ecosystems.
Turku University of Applied Sciences (Finland) brings together complementary expertise from the New Ways of Promoting Performance, Leadership Development, and Industrial Management research groups. Our multidisciplinary team studies how organizations can improve performance, productivity, innovation capacity, and sustainability through evidence-based leadership, organizational development, and human-centred management practices. We conduct applied research on shared and digital leadership, organizational resilience, change management, employee engagement, competence development, workplace well-being, and ecosystem collaboration. In addition, our Industrial Management expertise contributes knowledge on value chain development, sustainable operations, industrial transformation, innovation management, technology adoption, and data-driven decision-making. Through extensive collaboration with companies, public organizations, and international partners, we co-create practical solutions that strengthen competitiveness, workforce capabilities, and sustainable growth. We are particularly interested in leading or contributing to work packages focusing on governance, organizational transformation, leadership, skills development, social sustainability, and the human dimensions of future forest-based value chains.
