TOPIC 4 – Forest Value Chains, Markets and Governance
PEFC Romania is interested in joining a consortium as a project partner under Topic 4, Forest Value Chains, Markets and Governance.
We can contribute expertise in forest certification, sustainable forest management, chain of custody, traceability, due diligence and the practical implementation of EU forest related policies, including the EUDR.
PEFC Romania can provide access to a broad network of forest managers, forest owners, certification bodies, wood processing companies and SMEs, allowing research results and innovative tools to be tested in real market conditions.
We are particularly interested in projects addressing resilient forest value chains, digital traceability, risk based due diligence, certification and standards, market access, competitiveness of SMEs, forest governance and the interaction between voluntary certification and regulatory requirements.
PEFC Romania can contribute to stakeholder engagement, Romanian case studies, Living Lab activities, pilot testing, dissemination, capacity building, policy recommendations and the uptake of project results by the forest and wood based sector.
We are looking to cooperate with universities, research institutes, technology providers, industry organisations and other forest related organisations developing a consortium for the FOREST Joint Call 2026.
PEFC Romania is the national governing body of the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, PEFC, in Romania.
The organisation develops and manages the Romanian PEFC sustainable forest management certification system and supports the implementation of PEFC Chain of Custody certification in the forest based sector.
PEFC Romania works directly with forest owners, forest managers, certification bodies, wood processing companies, SMEs, industry associations, public authorities, universities and other stakeholders throughout the forest value chain.
Its activities include forest certification, development and implementation of standards, stakeholder consultation, training and capacity building, market development, communication and support for companies implementing sustainability and traceability requirements.
PEFC Romania also works actively on the practical implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation, EUDR, supporting forest based companies in understanding due diligence, traceability, geolocation and supply chain requirements.
Through its national network and its connection to PEFC International and the global PEFC alliance, PEFC Romania can support pilot projects, stakeholder engagement, dissemination and the transfer of research results into practical tools, standards and market applications.
