TOPIC 2 – Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems
We are looking to join a consortium developing adaptive and multifunctional forest management systems capable of responding to climate change, disturbance risks, and changing future environmental, economic and societal demands.
We are particularly interested in projects addressing:
1. Sustainable harvesting and wood mobilisation methods.
2. Operational, digital and technical innovations supporting forest management.
3. Data-driven decision-support systems for resilient and adaptive forest management.
LVM is especially interested in projects that strengthen the link between research and operational implementation. As a large forest manager, we can provide the testing and demonstration environment where innovative solutions, technologies and management approaches can be validated under practical forestry conditions, enabling faster adoption and scale for wider operational use in the future.
LVM is one of the leading companies of sustainable forest land management and forestry at Baltic Sea Region. The company manages and administers 1.61 million ha of state-owned land, including 1.59 million ha of forest land. The strategic goal of our organization is to implement sustainable, efficient and responsible management of our strategic assets, that consist of land, forest, minerals and other resources.
LVM has been an innovator in the forestry space since the very beginning. We use geospatial information systems, drones and digital tools to effectively manage our resources. Our proprietary geospatial information system, LVM GEO, has become one of the most prominent forestry-specific software solutions in Europe, used by international organizations to manage land in Germany, Denmark, and the wider Baltic region.
Within the consortium project we are open to discuss our involvement in activities that contribute towards:
1. Operational forest landscapes suitable for pilot activities, testing and demonstration.
2. Expertise in sustainable forest management and practical implementation of forestry innovations.
3. Experience with digital forestry, GIS, remote sensing and drone-based monitoring.
4. Operational expertise in harvesting, forest regeneration and forest infrastructure management.
5. Stakeholder engagement through recreation areas, nature tourism destinations and public outreach activities.
6. Strong dissemination and replication potential through one of the largest forest management organisations in Northern Europe.
We position ourselves as a digital-first forestry management company, that embraces innovation and sustainable development. With new technologies already being at the heart of LVM’s business, we are always on the lookout for new forest management solutions that aligns with our vision for a more sustainable future.
