TOPIC 4 – Forest Value Chains, Markets and Governance
We are seeking to join a FORESTPathways consortium under Topic 4 as a research partner from Türkiye, contributing expertise in management information systems, artificial intelligence, data analytics and organisational research.
Our proposed contribution focuses on digital transformation and AI adoption in forest-based value chains. We can contribute to assessing digital readiness, identifying organisational and governance barriers to innovation, analysing stakeholder perspectives, and developing and evaluating data-driven decision-support tools.
We are interested in collaborating with forestry researchers, forest managers, wood-based industry partners and public authorities to address a clearly defined sector challenge. Potential research areas include sustainable sourcing, supply-chain resilience, resource efficiency and data-sharing governance.
We would welcome discussions with coordinators seeking a partner to contribute to or lead a work package on digital adoption, socio-economic analysis or decision support. The specific contribution would be developed jointly around consortium priorities and access to relevant data and pilot settings.
Doğuş University is a higher education institution located in Istanbul, Türkiye. The proposed contribution would be led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yavuz Selim Balcıoğlu, whose research focuses on management information systems and data-driven organisational analysis.
Relevant research experience includes artificial intelligence, digital transformation, machine learning, natural language processing, technology and patent analysis, and quantitative research on organisational behaviour and governance.
For the FORESTPathways call, we aim to apply these capabilities to the digital and organisational challenges of forest-based value chains, working closely with forestry specialists and sector stakeholders. Our intended role is to contribute analytical methods, evidence on technology adoption, and the development and evaluation of decision-support approaches.
