We are looking to join a consortium developing sustainable and circular forest-based value chains, with particular interest in the safe and effective valorisation of forest biomass, residues and biological by-products.

UNICAM can contribute environmental and functional validation using ecotoxicological and phytotoxicity screening, plant-soil microcosms, soil enzyme activity assays, eDNA metabarcoding and microbiome analysis. These approaches can assess the environmental compatibility of bio-based products and formulations, their effects on plant performance, soil biodiversity and microbial processes, and potential risks associated with their application or reuse.

The team has experience in European transnational and national projects addressing the valorisation of biological and agro-industrial side streams, bio-based formulations and environmental assessment. It can provide biological evidence and sustainability indicators to support product development, circularity strategies, standards, decision-making and responsible market uptake within forest-based value chains.

The University of Camerino (UNICAM) is a public research university in central Italy. The participating team is based at the School of Biosciences and Veterinary Medicine and operates across field, controlled-experiment and laboratory settings.

It can support sampling design, harmonised protocols, biological sample processing, molecular and functional analyses, indicator calculation and ecological interpretation. The team has led work packages and research tasks in European transnational and national projects, collaborating with universities, research organisations, environmental authorities and protected-area managers.
