We are seeking partners for a transnational research project focused on forest resilience, regeneration and forest reproductive material under changing climatic conditions.
We offer expertise in plant biochemistry, stress physiology, antioxidant defence, metabolic regulation and recovery mechanisms. Our published research on oak (Quercus robur), European beech (Fagus sylvatica) and other woody plants addresses thermal stress tolerance, antioxidant responses, physiological recovery and the effects of bioactive compounds on plant development.
Our research integrates biochemical, chromatographic, electrophoretic and molecular approaches to investigate antioxidant and metabolic enzymes, isoenzyme profiles, protein composition and stress related metabolites. HPLC-DAD analysis enables the profiling and quantification of various plant metabolites and biologically active compounds.
Our proposed contribution includes identifying biochemical markers of forest resilience, assessing seed and seedling viability, investigating stress recovery mechanisms and improving forest regeneration. We aim to contribute our scientific expertise and experimental capabilities to international research consortia addressing forest resilience and climate adaptation.
The Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Plant Protection, Moldova State University, conducts research in plant physiology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology and environmental stress adaptation.
Our laboratory integrates plant biochemistry, stress physiology, chromatographic and electrophoretic analysis, molecular biology and microscopy. Its capabilities include a HPLC system with diode-array detection, antioxidant and metabolic enzyme assays, phenolic analysis, SDS-PAGE protein profiling, enzyme isoform analysis, acid and alkaline phosphatase activities, and PCR-based investigations.
Controlled environment experiments and seed viability assessments complement these capabilities, enabling comprehensive evaluation of plant stress responses, recovery and adaptive potential, with applications in forest resilience and regeneration.
