TOPIC 2 – Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems
As a university, our interest lies in collaborating with other research institutions, forest owners, and public authorities to test and validate resilient forest management strategies on the ground. We are highly interested in projects that bridge the gap between academic research and practical forestry, specifically focusing on the sustainable integration of Non-Wood Forest Products (NWFPs) into local economies, mangement forest and the assessment of forest structural diversity.
Technical University of Moldova (UTM), established in 1964, is the only higher technical educational institution in the Republic of Moldova, accredited by the state. Following recent institutional consolidations, UTM has integrated advanced agricultural and forestry research capacities, creating a powerful synergy between engineering, technology, and environmental sciences.
Our dedicated research teams focus extensively on sustainable forest management, ecological monitoring, and the technological optimization of natural resources. We specialize in analyzing forest structural diversity, investigating the socio-economic potential of non-wood forest products (NWFPs), and developing adaptive forestry strategies resilient to climate change. UTM possesses well-equipped laboratories, geographic information systems (GIS) capabilities, and field research expertise tailored to the specific ecological challenges of Eastern Europe.
The university has a solid track record of participating in international research programs, European projects, and cross-border cooperation frameworks, acting as a key bridge between scientific innovation, regional policy-making, and practical forestry applications.
