TOPIC 2 – Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems
Rewilding Europe is interested in joining a consortium to explore the use of Tessera for forest monitoring and restoration assessment. We can offer access to approximately 8,000 hectares of forest across different locations in Europe, together with field staff who can contribute local knowledge, coordinate site activities and support agreed field data collection and validation.
We are particularly interested in assessing how Tessera can help characterise forest habitats, map habitat heterogeneity and monitor changes relevant to rewilding and ecological recovery. The participating sites would provide opportunities to test the approach across different forest contexts and assess how well results transfer between locations.
We seek partners with expertise in Tessera, Earth observation, forest ecology and geospatial analysis to jointly develop practical monitoring applications. Our contribution would connect technical development with on-the-ground conservation needs, helping to define relevant indicators, validate outputs and assess their usefulness for restoration planning and management. The selection of sites, field activities and staff contributions would be agreed during project development.
Rewilding Europe is a European conservation organisation working to restore natural processes and support the recovery of wildlife and ecosystems through rewilding. We work with local partners and stakeholders to deliver landscape-scale restoration and develop practical approaches to monitoring ecological recovery.
Our contribution to a research partnership combines conservation delivery, impact monitoring and local implementation capacity. We can offer access to approximately 8,000 hectares of forest spread across different European locations, as well as field staff with knowledge of the participating sites.
