TOPIC 2 – Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems
Social science partner for wildfire risk and fire-smart forest management (Topics 1 and 2)
I am a disaster risk researcher at Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Türkiye, eligible for TÜBİTAK funding. My PhD examined pyrocumulonimbus awareness, disaster awareness and community resilience in wildfire-affected areas using mixed methods. I am a former firefighter and work in university disaster risk management.
I would like to join a consortium as a research partner and can lead or contribute to a work package on how wildfire risk information is communicated and taken up in forest management and community action. This includes institutional trust, community participation in preventive practices, and survey experiments testing how warning and prevention messages affect understanding, trust and intended action. I can also support stakeholder engagement and Living Lab activities in Türkiye.
I am looking for forest fire, fire ecology or forest management groups who need a social science and transdisciplinary component.
