We are looking to join an international consortium under Topic 1 – Climate-Resilient Forest Systems and/or Topic 2 – Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems.
We offer expertise in forest ecosystem research and management, forest biodiversity, natural regeneration, forest restoration, forest biomass and carbon assessment, protected-area management and field-based forest monitoring.
Georgia can provide a valuable Caucasus case-study and field research region for investigating forest resilience, adaptive management, biodiversity conservation and natural regeneration under changing climatic and environmental conditions.
We can contribute field research sites, in-situ observations, forest ecosystem and biodiversity data, natural regeneration studies, biomass and carbon assessments, practical forest management expertise and local stakeholder coordination.
We are particularly interested in joining an existing consortium as a research partner, case-study partner, pilot-site partner or field implementation partner.
Sokhumi State University and Professor Zviadi Tiginashvili offer extensive academic, research and practical expertise in forestry and forest ecosystem management in Georgia.
Professor Tiginashvili is a forestry scientist and university professor with research experience in forest biodiversity, natural regeneration, forest restoration, forest biomass and carbon assessment, protected areas and forest monitoring. He has led and participated in multiple research and applied projects addressing forest carbon stocks, forest ecosystem dynamics, biodiversity, restoration and natural regeneration in different regions of Georgia.
His professional experience also includes long-term practical management of a protected area and forestry education and research. The team can provide access to relevant forest and protected-area environments in Georgia and contribute field-based research, ecological assessments, forest management expertise and local scientific and stakeholder coordination.
Georgia provides a distinctive Caucasus context for collaborative research on climate-resilient forests and adaptive, multifunctional forest management.
