We are looking to lead or participate in already existing consortia for TOPIC 1 or 2 relating to tree biotic stress responses in changing climate and role of beneficial microorganims (mycorrhizal fungi & PGPB) in tree defence signalling and resistance to pests and pathogens. Our ambition is to link mechanistic understanding of interactions between trees and microorganisms with cascading ecological processes and questions, translating to forest management practices and novel biotechnologies.
Our resources: access to birch and aspen clonal variation (in vitro propagation of plantlets), lab collection of plant growth promoting bacteria, AMF and pathogenic fungi, acccess to field experiments via collaborators in Latvia
Our platforms: access to in-house NGS platforms (MGI, Oxford nanopore, Illumina) and metabolomics platforms at NIRI.
Our collaborators: Latvian Forest research Institute Silava https://silava.lv/en and numerous collaboraors internationally for forming consortium (incl., INRA, France, UNIL, Switzerland, African Genome Centre, Morocco).
