We are interested in cooperating with partners to explore innovative approaches to address the multiple and interacting factors affecting Mediterranean forests, including climate change, forest health, biodiversity loss, and the need for more resilient and sustainable forest management practices.

We are particularly interested in collaborations that promote the exchange of expertise, the development and testing of practical solutions, and the transfer of knowledge to relevant stakeholders, including forest owners, local associations, and forestry professionals. Through our network of local forest associations and access to diverse pilot sites, we can help connect research and innovation with on-the-ground needs, facilitate stakeholder engagement, support field trials and demonstrations, and contribute to the dissemination and practical implementation of project results at local, regional, and national levels.

UNAC – União da Floresta Mediterrânica is a Portuguese umbrella organisation representing seven forest producer associations and advocating for the interests of forest owners and producers in the Mediterranean region of Portugal at national and European levels. UNAC promotes the sustainable management and protection of Mediterranean forests, biodiversity conservation, rural development, and the economic and environmental value of forest and agroforestry systems, including the sustainable production of cork, timber, and pine nuts.
UNAC combines technical expertise with the practical experience of forest owners, producers, and local associations. It actively participates in research, innovation, and collaborative projects, contributing to the development, testing, validation, and dissemination of innovative solutions and good practices for Mediterranean forestry. Through its network of member associations and access to diverse pilot sites, UNAC supports field trials, demonstration activities, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge transfer under real-world conditions.
