Semillistas is very interested in joining as a partner to offer the following:
- Real-life Living Lab Sites: Coordination of Mediterranean experimental sites with established land-manager and local authority networks.
- Proven Restoration Protocols: 5+ years of expertise in low-cost Direct Sowing Methodologies (DSM) and seed enhancement ready for field testing and scaling.
- Multi-Actor Engagement: Proven track record in co-creation and inclusive governance (600+ volunteers, 50+ workshops).
- EU Project Experience: Team members with direct experience in managing Horizon Europe work packages.
We are ideally positioned to lead Living Lab coordination, restoration intervention protocols and/or stakeholder engagement tasks, as well as contribute to developing models, indicators and tools for effective forest management (and in particular, in Meditteranean and similar climates).
Semillistas is a Spanish non-profit organisation based in Granada, specialised in the eco-social restoration of Mediterranean ecosystems. We act as a hybrid "innovation hub" that bridges the gap between technical research and grassroots community action.
Our operations are built on three independent but interconnected pillars:
- SeedLab: Our rural laboratory dedicated to Seed Enhancement Technology (SET). We develop open-source protocols for seed priming and pelleting, allowing for large-scale reforestation without the high costs and carbon footprint of traditional nurseries.
- Siembrabosques: Our social action and citizen science programme. To date, we have mobilised +600 local volunteers and managed +35 hectares of forest restoration in post-fire and arid areas.
- SeedToSeed: A knowledge-transfer network through which we mentor other NGOs and public entities (such as WWF or national forestry services) in our direct sowing methodologies.
As a Lead Organisation in the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), we focus on transforming international volunteers and local youth into "Regenerative Leaders," providing them with high-level technical training while fostering rural development and community health.
