TOPIC 2 – Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems
Our research focuses on the use of plant growth-promoting microorganisms to produce forest seedlings with enhanced resilience and adaptability to climate change. We also investigate the application of plant growth-promoting bacteria to improve seedling nutrition and enhance root development, particularly in the context of macropropagation and micropropagation of forest species. Our goal is to develop innovative microbial-based solutions that promote seedling quality, improve plant establishment, and contribute to more resilient and sustainable forest production systems.
Embrapa Florestas (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation – Forestry), located in Colombo, Paraná, Brazil, is a public research institution dedicated to science, technology, and innovation for sustainable forestry and forest-based production systems. Its research covers forest biotechnology, tree breeding, forest management, soil science, plant nutrition, and forest microbiology. The institution has multidisciplinary research teams and laboratory and experimental facilities, and collaborates with universities, research institutions, and public and private organizations in Brazil and abroad. Embrapa Florestas has expertise in plant–microbe interactions, particularly in the identification and characterization of beneficial microorganisms and the development of microbial-based technologies to improve forest seedling growth, nutrition, rooting, and resilience to environmental stresses.
