TOPIC 4 – Forest Value Chains, Markets and Governance
We are interested in partnering with organisations in the UK and Europe where we can bring our specialist market research and R&D skills to research projects. As a private-sector organisation we can provide industry input and have extensive networks of contacts.
Whilst value-chains and markets are the main backbone of our work this naturally stems from Topic 3 activities in timber and wood based economies. We are especially interested in whole value-chain development from the growing of quality timber through to end-products. Much of our work is consultative in process and we are interested in projects where facilitation or promotion of discussions between elements of the value-chain are needed.
We are also interested in collaborations that can draw on our media related work. Recording research through images and video or helping re-imagine results into formats that widen the audience for the work (such as podcast, written word or plain-English versions of scientific papers).
Evolving Forests, based in the Uk but working across Europe is a specialist forestry and forest supply-chain development organisation. Our work is focussed on innovation and R&D in supply-chains that act as a driver for more resilient forest management. We are especially interested in bioregional approaches (including urban forest products) and product propositions that put the ecological health of the forest first. We also run a media production service specialising in film, photography, verbal and written word for forestry & timber sectors.
Our clients include public, private and NGOS. We have undertaken work for the UK Forestry Commission alongside regional NGOS (Woodland Trust and National Trust) , European NGOs such as Built By Nature and regional authorities on catchment-scale forest assessment. We work for private clients including sawmills of all sizes, construction developers and forest owners. We site on a number of larger Framework agreements for DEFRA in the UK including for R&D activities in the forestry sector.
