TOPIC 3 – Timber and Innovative Wood-Based Products
We are interested in joining a research-led FORESTPathways 2026 consortium under Topic 3 as a complementary vocational education and skills-transfer partner. Our focus is connecting sustainable timber construction, circular design and innovative wood-based building products with the skills of future construction professionals.
Subject to institutional approval and the consortium's needs, our proposed contributions include:
- Co-designing and piloting VET learning modules and teacher resources based on the consortium's research findings.
- Developing CAD-based design exercises and safe, classroom-scale educational demonstrations on timber construction, material reuse and circular design.
- Gathering structured teacher and learner feedback to support knowledge transfer and educational uptake, with appropriate consent and safeguarding.
- Supporting dissemination, visual storytelling and international teacher collaboration through our eTwinning and Erasmus+ experience.
We seek an experienced coordinator, universities, timber/materials research centres and industry partners with complementary research, testing and product-development capacity. Our offer is educational: it does not include accredited material testing, structural certification or industrial-scale prototyping.
We aim to help translate research into accessible, practical vocational skills. Formal participation, the school's legal status and Turkish national funding eligibility must be confirmed with the relevant authorities, including TUBITAK, before any commitment. An appropriate stakeholder role can also be discussed. This expression of interest does not imply secured funding, institutional approval or a financial commitment.
Istanbul TOKI Kayasehir Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School is a public vocational secondary school in Basaksehir, Istanbul, Turkiye. The school provides vocational education, including Construction Technologies, for learners aged approximately 14-18.
The contact person, Sevgi Bayram, is a Construction Technologies teacher and project coordinator with an academic background in architecture. Her teaching and project work brings together sustainable architecture, technical drawing/CAD, STEM, digital pedagogy, green-blue skills and project-based international collaboration. Relevant educational work includes STEMCycle-G2B and BluEcoInVET.
For this call, we offer a potential connection between research and vocational learning, teacher development, educational pilots and dissemination. We are a vocational school, not a university or a specialist timber-testing research institute. The precise contribution and participation arrangements would be agreed with the coordinator and the school authorities, subject to eligibility and institutional approval.
