TOPIC 2 – Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems
We are interested in collaborating to co-develop new silvicultural models and practices, as well as forest management approaches, that are better adapted to climate change, considering the multiple functions of forests, risk reduction, and the promotion of economic, ecological and social sustainability.
To achieve this, our goal is to contribute to accessing data on test beds in resilient forest systems, designing adaptive management guidelines, testing innovative silvicultural practices in liaison with stakeholders, and monitoring and quantifying biodiversity and ecosystem services – including carbon storage and sequestration – to underpin credible valuation strategies and support decision-making.
CoLAB ForestWISE® – Collaborative Laboratory for Integrated Forest and Fire Management – is a private, non-profit organisation. We promote integrated forest and fire management through (co)research and development activities, knowledge and technology transfer, and by acting as an interface between industry, academia, and public administration to create a real impact on the forest and fire domains and on society.
Our Strategic R&D&I Agenda is organised around four core themes related to forest and landscape management: (i) Management and Sustainability, (ii) Risk, (iii) Circular Bioeconomy, and (iv) People and Territory. These core themes are complemented by three cross-cutting themes focusing on Key Enabling Technologies, Governance and Policy, and Innovation and Capacity Building.
