supply chain scenarios; valorisation of forest products; circular economy practices; participatory and collaborative approaches
TOPIC 4 – Forest Value Chains, Markets and Governance
We are interested in collaborating to co-develop new methodologies and models for the valorisation of forest products—including non-timber forest products such as resins, cork, and wild fruits, among others—based on sustainable and efficient production, the promotion of local economies, and the diversification of activities associated with the forestry sector.
To achieve this, our goal is to contribute to deploying assessment methods that compare alternative supply chain scenarios, processing technologies, suppliers, and circular economy practices, as well as to identifying best practices and benefits for stakeholders at all stages of the supply chain, and to developing E-commerce and branding strategies. Furthermore, we aim to contribute to the (co)design of more informed and robust public policies based on participatory and collaborative approaches.
CoLAB ForestWISE® – Collaborative Laboratory for Integrated Forest and Fire Management – is a private, non-profit organisation. We promote integrated forest and fire management through (co)research and development activities, knowledge and technology transfer, and by acting as an interface between industry, academia, and public administration to create a real impact on the forest and fire domains and on society.
Our Strategic R&D&I Agenda is organised around four core themes related to forest and landscape management: (i) Management and Sustainability, (ii) Risk, (iii) Circular Bioeconomy, and (iv) People and Territory. These core themes are complemented by three cross-cutting themes focusing on Key Enabling Technologies, Governance and Policy, and Innovation and Capacity Building.
