TOPIC 2 – Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems
I can offer expertise in gas emission measurements, carbon sequestration and simulation modelling.
I also have two ideas/questions that I would like to investigate:
1. Can the proportion of edible mushrooms as mykhorizza in forests be increased, and as such create more multi-functional forest? How will climate and CO2 change affect it?
2. Can organic residue fertilisers considered unfit for agricultural systems (e.g. sewage sludge) be used to fertilise newly planted forests to? What is the effect on growth, and what happens to the contaminants and can this make the bioeconomy more circular?
Our research within applied ecology, agricultural sciences and biotechnology is closely related to our programmes of study and is based on sustainable production, use and management of biological resources such as game, fish, forests, cultivated plants and livestock; as well as products and services developed from biological material.
